Thrupoint's Fixed Mobile Convergence Suite

Thrupoint's Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) solution delivers a converged solution for Service Providers and Enterprise customers looking for a scalable mobility option. The solution allows subscribers the ability to make and receive calls over a standard cellular network as well as access voice over IP using WiFi.

altThe solution combines corporate voice and messaging applications for business and places them onto a single mobile Smartphone under IT control. As a result, employees are reachable via a single business number – their desk phone extension – anywhere, anytime. Users have access to as broad a set of communications features as their existing PBX. These capabilities are made available reliably and cost-effectively over both cellular and WiFi networks.

The Thrupoint FMC solution consists of two key components: the Thrupoint FMC Client and the Thrupoint FMC Server.

Thrupoint FMC Mobile Smart Clients

Installed on a mobile handset, the client provides user access to the same features and functionalities as the user's desk phone. The client’s easy-to-use interface enables users to navigate quickly across mobile phone and communications applications such as messaging, contacts, presence, and more. Standard desk phone features like call transfer, call hold and resume, call conference and mute are all supported by the Thrupoint FMC Client. To guarantee continuous and transparent connections on behalf of the user, the client incorporates a mobility manager that constantly monitors the viability of the active network link and collaborates with the Thrupoint FMC server on network roam decisions.

Thrupoint FMC Mobility Server

The Thrupoint FMC Server is designed to provide locally managed mobility services that can be integrated with customers' existing PBXs. Once the server is installed on the enterprise network, Smartphone handsets behave as IP desk phones, providing a cost-effective option for adding mobile extensions without a system forklift.

The server also incorporates a management server for easy administration of the system and a mobility management service to monitor network connections with clients and proactively identifies the optimal network connection for each call. Roam decisions between WiFi and mobile networks are made automatically to ensure voice quality and reliability.
